Today was very busy, and tiring, and a little disappointing, but also a bit exciting!
In the morning, we loaded into the van to reach the East Bay Regional. After arriving, we unloaded everything from our van and Julio's truck (thanks) into our pit and our canopy place.
I also saw Matthew Lum, finally in person and formally, afterwards!
Afterwards, we got started on fixing up some final concerns with our robot before inspection. This would appear to take a long time, but the only problem with the robot that they dinged for us was that our robot was outside of frame perimeter. Fortunately, it was just some extrusion that we could cut off. Afterwards, we passed inspection! We basically passed first try.
After that, we attached our bumpers on, which took a really long time. Sometime while the bumpers were being attached by some folks that didn't really know how to attach the bumpers (sorry,) I went to audition to sing the national anthem before competition days.
...and somehow I got the role!
Afterwards, they took a long time to finish the bumpers, so we waiting in the fill in line at the first place until our robot was ready, where we participated in our first practice match to see that our robot was not working.
After that, we quickly left to make it late to the senior celebration at our high school. There was a pretty good taco truck, a slideshow with past memories, and t-shirt signing and distribution, which was very fun! Unfortunately, I didn't snap any pictures, but hopefully that's reflective of my immersion.
Thanks for reading,
Issac
Matthew Lum and I finally meet each other!
First practice match of comp!
I got stuck (not really) in the guardrail.
