Today was pretty fire by the end of it.
I got out of bed a bit late for our orientation group meeting. We were heading to Zellerbach Hall (Cal Performances) for BearPact, which was about resources on campus to face problems like harassment. It wasn't a bad performance, but some of the lines were a bit forced since they had to name specific campus resources. Some of the scenes definitely generated a grander response from the audience than others, even at the early hour of the morning.
Afterwards, we had to take a quiz about what we had learned in BearPact. Then, we were free for a while until lunch. We walked to Clark Kerr for lunch, where they served Chinese food. It all had some ginger in it for some reason which didn't really make sense, so it all had a bit of a spicy flavor. It was edible and definitely not the worse thing I've eaten. We had to rush to get to the bus stop so that we could make sure that our Easypass Clipper Cards were functioning, so I had to abandon my meal.
Fortunately, the bus pass worked and we took the bus. After, we walked up and down the resource center, and then I went to visit the gym. It was very spacious, very grand, and there was a large variety of machines. I went back to my dorm to change, and when I got there it got a bit more busy. I started with some cardio on the bicycle machine, then on the rowing machine, then I did some stretches, then I did some strength training on the machines. I was beginning to notice a bit of a cramp in my leg so I had to stop.
After my workout, I went back home to rinse and get dinner. I had missed my group's dinner time, so I had to search for what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, my flex dollars weren't functioning for some reason, so I had to pay out of pocket. I got TKK chicken. I think I ordered too much, because I was quite full at the end. I'm surprised, because I can eat 3 pieces of chicken at Popeyes. Anyways, the chicken was certainly crispy and I got some pretty big pieces. I opted to get coleslaw to be a bit healthier. I wouldn't say it was the most flavorful chicken, though. I knew it was spicy but that's it.
When I had finally finished my meal, I went to line up to get headphones for the silent disco. It was really fun, and there was a decent variety of music. Everyone kept switching the channels until everyone agreed on something to vibe to, which was most likely the most energetic party song that people could mosh pit to. The silent disco was really, really fun! I had a good time in the moshpit, jumping up and down, even though I got several bad leg cramps.
When karaoke was about to start, I returned my headphones and went to the Jaguar Karaoke. I was placed in a large room since I was just one person and I didn't have a party :( I still had a good time singing along to songs that I recognized and celebrating other's singing abilities.
And that was my day! While I did a lot of things by myself I still had a really good time exploring what Cal had to offer today. It was very fun and it made me appreciate Berkeley a bit more!
