December 24th: Christmas Eve Work Rush

Today was a lot!

Unfortunately, I didn't get as much sleep as I hoped to get today; perhaps I was feeling stressed for the work day that I would be involved in?

I was picked up by my cousin and left earlier for work than typical since we needed to prepare. It had been a long time since I last worked, but I was still familiar with everything. My cousin had to prepare by organizing orders, and I helped with preparing sauces and wiping down surfaces.

Once we opened, things started getting pretty busy. Surprisingly, there weren't too many tables, but the take-out section was definitely busy: we had party trays and many other orders to manage.

Finally, the lunch rush ended and we got to take a well needed rest. I went and walked around the strip mall nearby during the break.

Dinner was a lot more stressful. Fortunately, there was never a line too long out the door in the poor weather; we had good management of the orders.

I was very happy when closing time finally hit. We finished everything up and the lot of us went to Garden Cafe in Castro Valley, which was still open at this hour. It was Cantonese Style cha-chaan-tang; very classic dishes, executed good enough.

Finally when I got back home I got to hit the hay!
