Today was nice!
After my classes today, I went to visit someone special to me. After she was finished with her class, we went to the SF Chinatown Night Market. It was really, really packed! The streets were absolutely flooded, and it was hard to get from place to place. We first visited the north side of the night market, then we made our way down to the south side. While we were in Chinatown, we visited some of the shops too. We didn't actually end up buying anything from the tents. However, we really enjoyed the festival, celebrations, and parade that they had! We found the labubu they had particularly amusing.
After the night market, we went to get dinner at the historical Sam Wo restaurant on Clay. It's over 100 years old! We got the Mongolian Beef and Beef Chow Fun. I found the portions to be a bit on the smaller side, each plate was probably good for one person. I wanted to try their dim sum, but as it turned out, the dishes we had ordered were perfectly enough for the both of us. There were a lot of raw onions, too many actually. They didn't velvet their beef so it wasn't the most tender. The Beef Chow Fun was pretty standard, though, other than the beef. I found the carrots in the Mongolian Beef interesting and not that standard. I think I based a lot of my opinions off of the 4 years I had worked at my dad's restaurant, but honestly, I was indeed expecting just a bit more from Sam Wo. It's still good though! The history of location was definitely appealing, and it was pretty busy: they were fully seated!
